I have for over 40 years had an interest in UFO's, the first book I read was Project Blue Book, after reading that I was a bit like Fox Mulder (as a kid my friends called me Fox and in my CB days I was known as the Flying Fox) 'I wanted to believe' so I set out reading every thing I could about this phenomena. In fact I bought a book every other day from Foils the book shop for ages, I have quite an extensive collection now. I also joined BUFORA and for a short period became an investigator for them, anyway, the the thing is, I have never seen a UFO, Alien or anything else weird that can't be explained by common sense or scientific means. In these 40 years I have met many people who have seen something, they really have but it's something that when looked into in detail it turns out to be something quite unremarkable like, stars, satellites or planets, so, what am I going to moan about you ask, well it's those people who really want their 15 minutes of fame, the satellite TV channels are full of programmes about UFO's as is YouTube, they try to convince you and I that they saw Aliens, they were abducted and had unspeakable experiments done to them, really? Come on, I was watching a youtube video yesterday where this guy was trying to convince us that he saw aliens and was taken aboard their spacecraft, they showed an images of him in the 70's when this was supposed to have happened, the thing was he looked almost the same now some 45 years later, had the aliens done something to him? No, he has had a face lift with all the money he has earned from telling this made up story, the thing that amazes me the most is that the so called researchers/UFO investigators are convinced his story is true, one even remarked that they could tell by his face that he was telling the truth, FOR FUCKS SAKE, the guys face is pulled so tight by the face lift that he could hardly move his mouth and had no expressions at all.
So my grip here is with the investigators, like I said before during my time as an investigator I explained everything away with scientific processes, and meeting these people with an open mind, not already convinced by the time I got to meet them that it was a UFO. I have a lot of resect for someone like Nick Pope who was the UK's only official government UFO investigator, when I have seen his interviews he does have an open mind, sometimes he admits he has no idea about certain sightings and other times he has a reasonable explanation for it. But others I really don't have time for, another example to this is the TV programme Missing in Alaska, 3 investigators,a UFO expert and believer, a native Alaskan who is a folk law expert and an ex police officer, now the UFO guys believes everything that they investigate is real, the folk law guy always has a story backing up the events, but the cop, Jax, he is not so easily convinced but I think under pressure from the other 2 he buckles sometimes. SO do I believe? Sort of, there are the odd occasions when you just can't explain what people have seen or that their experiences are not real, I have never seen a UFO or Alien, do I want to? I'm really not sure, Steven Hawkins said that we should not try to contact aliens by attaching messages to probes and satellites telling them where we are as he believes that if they come here it won't be on peaceful terms, I am of the same mind, you leave your planet to explore and find new resources, we are already making plans to mine both the Moon and Mars so why would aliens beings not want to do the same, they may see us as a nuisance that needs to be eradicated before they start mining? And if they can get here from wherever, then they will have the power to wipe us out.
Anyway going back to the tile of the post those that get on the bandwagon, is there money to be made from having a sighting? Yes, will you make more money if you were abducted? Yes, will you make buckets of money if the aliens did medical experiments on you? Yes, how much can you make if they had sex with you? A spaceship full, so, there I believe is the answer as to why so many people make up stories or enhance them, it's about the money, the Sun also the now disgraced and no longer New of the World newspaper, I use the word newspaper with some hesitation, has paid thousands to people for the exclusive rights to their stories, so being in need of a few quid I may make up something just for them to pay me and print. I am sure with my knowledge of the subject I can easily convince them of being abducted and sexually abused by a beautiful tall blonde female alien with 3 tits and 2 fannies, I'm being frivolous, but you know what I mean.
So back to work now, more work on my courses for September.
